Lovable, furry old Grover is distressed to learn that there's a monster at the end of this book! I loved this book as a child。 Grover was my favourite。

Going into an uncertainty-filled 2022, I picked this up to start my year on a light, silly note。 And to be more specific and also much more honest, I picked up the used copy that I as a grown and childless adult intentionally purchased last year with my own money。 Why? Well, first and foremost I have long been a major Muppet fan, adoring them in all their different mediums and formats - Sesame Street, The Muppet Show, the many various movies and specials, etc。 But whenever I encountered The Mons Going into an uncertainty-filled 2022, I picked this up to start my year on a light, silly note。 And to be more specific and also much more honest, I picked up the used copy that I as a grown and childless adult intentionally purchased last year with my own money。 Why? Well, first and foremost I have long been a major Muppet fan, adoring them in all their different mediums and formats - Sesame Street, The Muppet Show, the many various movies and specials, etc。 But whenever I encountered The Monster at the End of this Book as a child, I was more than just happily entertained by the silly antics of one of my favorite fuzzy Muppet monsters。 None of my other picture books had anywhere close to this kind of interactive element。 A character was both speaking to me from the pages, and actively trying to prevent me from carrying on with the rest of the book。 It always felt like it was breaking some kind of fundamental rules that the other books followed。 The fourth-wall breaking nature of the book was almost revolutionary to my little developing mind, and endlessly fascinating to me。 And when I say endlessly, I mean it。 Even though a few decades have passed, even though as an uncle I have encountered quite a few of the excellent interactive kids books that are out there in growing abundance (Herve Tullet's Press Here and Mix It Up instantly spring to mind as examples), when I pick up the The Monster at the End of this Book and watch Grover struggle in vain to prevent us from reaching the very end together, I will still feel a spark of that subversive childish joy。 I just love this book。 I love it, and I love it with the kind of deep, irony-free sincerity that will make me write up a review that is several times longer than the very book itself without any sense of regret whatsoever。 I simply can't help it。 This is more than just an old childhood favorite - I look upon this book, and to me, this is art。 。。。more

This was my favorite book as a child。 In all the moves my family has had, my original copy of this book got lost, so my mom gifted me this book this Christmas。 So yes, I read it again。 It’s still an awesome book and among my favorites。 A great gift from my mom and made me smile all the way through。 😊

this book is adorable but i worry about the message it sends LOL。 I'm all about exploring and boldly going and whatnot, but i feel if someone's literally begging you repeatedly not to do something, you should STOP DOING IT haha。 So I'm enjoying this as an adult but will definitely be having a Serious Chat with the LO about how to respond to people's boundaries ;) this book is adorable but i worry about the message it sends LOL。 I'm all about exploring and boldly going and whatnot, but i feel if someone's literally begging you repeatedly not to do something, you should STOP DOING IT haha。 So I'm enjoying this as an adult but will definitely be having a Serious Chat with the LO about how to respond to people's boundaries ;) 。。。more

Another book for Wendy’s baby! I don’t remember this one from when I was a kid, but it is SO cute and I’m sure I would have loved it。 I can imagine doing the voices and just laughing sooo much! Grover is the best。

The muppets have proven themselves to be timeless characters loved by children across many generations。 I particularly like this book because there is an interactive app which makes the book an interactive experience for children。

This book is so cute。 I can hear kids dying laughing as it's read to them。 It gets sillier and sillier every page you flip。 I can't wait to read this with my kids one day and even my adult friends, who wouldn't like this book? This book is great for littles。 It allows the reader to use a lot of expression and the bright colors are so fun for kids to look at。 A very fun and lighthearted read that incorporates a popular TV character that students may know。

"The Monster at the End of this Book" by Jon Stone is a book about the sesame street character, Grover。 In the book Grover begs the reader to not finish the book because of the monsters at the end。 This children's fiction book was intended for ages 2 and up。 I never read this book until i saw it her , and I enjoyed it。 I could use this book for story time with my first graders。 I'm sure they would enjoy this book and the pictures。 I rated this book a 5 star because it was very nice and i enjoyed "The Monster at the End of this Book" by Jon Stone is a book about the sesame street character, Grover。 In the book Grover begs the reader to not finish the book because of the monsters at the end。 This children's fiction book was intended for ages 2 and up。 I never read this book until i saw it her , and I enjoyed it。 I could use this book for story time with my first graders。 I'm sure they would enjoy this book and the pictures。 I rated this book a 5 star because it was very nice and i enjoyed reading it , even at my age。 。。。more

Maybe I'm nostalgic, but this was the first book I ever recieved, and it is the book I gift most often。 Best read in a nasal-y poor attempt to sound like Grover。 The repeative nature keeps kids engaged and soon they catch on to the consequences of turning the pages。 Fun light hearted read。 Maybe I'm nostalgic, but this was the first book I ever recieved, and it is the book I gift most often。 Best read in a nasal-y poor attempt to sound like Grover。 The repeative nature keeps kids engaged and soon they catch on to the consequences of turning the pages。 Fun light hearted read。 。。。more

I would love to have this book in my classroom as students are able to make predictions about what is going to happen next and this will be great for visualizing the book while foreshadowing。

My son got SO excited every time we turned a page! He was really engaged in the story, liked pointing out features in the pictures, and seemed genuinely curious about what kind of monster we would find at the end。 I've read this years ago, but was fun watching my toddler explore it。 My son got SO excited every time we turned a page! I read this book multiple times a day as a kid and loved it。 It is such an interesting book for young readers and uses multiple metafictive devices that draw readers in。 Being a part of the story for kids is so important and that is why I loved this book so much。

Modren Fantasy K-3rd GradeA good interactive book can be somewhat hard to come by, but this one is fantastic。 With the old, lovable Sesame Street character, Grover, this book is playful and so fun for a wide range of ages。 Even now, I found it so funny and will definitely be pulling this off the shelf again one day。
